River Levels Dictate Trout Fishing

My river fishing lately has been mostly determined by what the water levels and flows are doing. With all the rain we have gotten over the past several months, my opportunities have been rather few and far between. However, when I have been able to get out I have been able to find some fish willing to eat. I think the fishing pressure has been a little less than normal overall for many of our rivers due to the higher water conditions. We finally are seeing some stretches of days with no rain, so river levels are starting to come back to normal. My most recent outing produced numerous fish, with a few decent sized ones mixed in. All the fish took streamers, worm or stonefly nymph patterns in what was still rather high water.
